SMADC Summer Intern Program

Welcome to the SMADC Summer Internship Program

The Southern Maryland Agricultural Development Commission (SMADC), a division of the Tri-County Council for Southern Maryland, offers a paid, immersive summer internship funded by the Rural Maryland Council (RMC). The program gives college students pursuing degrees in agriculture, agricultural business, environmental science, and related fields direct, hands-on experience in agricultural service operations.

Program Overview

  • Duration: 11 to 12 weeks of paid, real-world industry experience.

  • Core Focus Areas: Program development, agricultural budgeting, industry networking, and resource utilization.

  • Professional Growth: Includes comprehensive orientation, project development, high-level mentorship, specialized workshops, and regional networking opportunities.

  • Funding & Support: Generously supported by grant funding from the Rural Maryland Council (RMC) to foster the next generation of agricultural leaders.

Meet Our Interns

2026 Cohort

  • Katelyn Bullock

    • Education: Rising Junior at Oklahoma State University (Agricultural Education) | Southern High School Alumna (Anne Arundel County)

    • Background: Served as the Maryland FFA State Reporter after high school, discovering a strong passion for agricultural education and advocacy.

    • Career Goal: High school agricultural education teacher.

  • Serenity Mitchell

    • Education: Undergraduate at Towson University (Environmental Science and Studies)

    • Background: Focused on sustainable agriculture, community engagement, and environmental stewardship.

    • Career Goal: Agricultural sustainability and community environmental work.

  • Angelina Perez

    • Education: Rising Sophomore at College of Southern Maryland (Biology) | Incoming Transfer to University of Maryland Institute of Applied Agriculture (Fall 2027)

    • Background: National FFA competitor in Prepared Public Speaking and Poultry Production.

    • Career Goal: Agricultural business and politics.
